The spirit of fear is one of the most dominant spirits in the earth, in the kingdom of darkness. Another of the most active is the spirit of control and manipulation, also called witchcraft in the Bible. But known in most Pentecostal and Charismatic circles as the spirit of Jezebel. It’s all about Control. One of the reasons men seek to control the things they cannot, is because of fear. Fear is the language of the Devil the same way that Faith is the language of God. In the spiritual realm, fear will call things to you. Saul wouldn’t listen to Samuel when he was alive, but after the Prophet died Saul went to a witch to call up the man of God. It wasn’t Samuel that came up, it was a familiar spirit. A demon.
The enemy has succeeded in getting fear planted deep inside this rebellious and unbelieving generation. More than any that came before it. That’s why there has been an explosion of movies filled with fear terror and horror in the last thirty years. You shouldn’t even watch them, they’ll just build fear in you. Fear drives you, and fear is tormenting. All demons and evil spirits seek expression, and though possession does occur, the most common form of expression is through the Fallen Nature of man. Including believers. Only by way of Influence of course, not through possession. As a Christian you cannot be demon possessed, but you can be demon oppressed. Unbelievers can be possessed by all sorts of demons.
Don’t be proud and think it doesn’t happen to you, anytime you sin you’ve given in – to a spirit. A spirit other than the Holy Spirit. Nothing to be afraid of, but everything to be aware of. They have no more power or place in your life than that which you give them. Fear and the various forms of it are the way you give these spirits place. It is not God’s will that any fear the devil and his minions. Hollywood is built on hype and exaggeration, just like the devil. He wants you to think that he’s big and bad and powerful, but he is not. He is weak and puny and defeated. But only for Believers. If you don’t know the God who made Heaven and earth, then you are under the god of this world system. Which is the Devil.
Fear is one of many things Christ delivered us from, but the deliverance must be enforced. By each individual in their own life. You can’t enforce it in someone else’s life, and they must be Born Again to be able to do it in their own life and become a temple. A temple is a holy house, a house for God. In the Bible we are called the temple of the Holy Spirit once we accept Christ. The Spirit of God will not share His house with an evil spirit. You have a free will, so you can override God’s will for you life by refusing to yield to His Spirit. All spirits are something you must yield to, including fear. Paul said in his second letter to Timothy that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Worry is an expression of fear. Worry worships the words of the enemy. Foreboding is a sense of impending doom. Dread is fearful apprehension. Anxiety is another form of fearful pressure. So is depression. The quickest way to get depressed is to think about yourself. Get your Self off your mind. Your help will never come while you’re looking for it – it will come while you’re looking for Him.
Christ is our help and the Holy Spirit is our Comforter. Ask God to help you and He will, but you have to believe. Don’t think inside your Self . . . think inside the Word. To do that you must fill your spirit with the Word of God by reading it every day. Scripture commands us to cleanse our minds by washing with the water of the Word, and to put on the mind of Christ. Staying in Christ is the only answer to living in the world and not being overcome by it.
Here’s one of the Truth’s we apply in our Ministry to avoid it :
Don’t think about, don’t talk about, don’t meditate on – what you don’t Know what you don’t Have and what you can’t Do. If you’ll do that everyday, you will eliminate about 95% of the worry, frustration, anxiety, depression, heaviness, dread and strife in your life.
