Upon This Rock

There is a horrible and devastating misuse of a single Scripture that has been infamous for centuries.  It’s not hidden, it has been carved in stone lifted up on high and declared openly in plain sight.  It can be seen scrolled on the inner ring of the base of the great dome of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.  Hundreds of millions of people have been deceived by it, for centuries.

It is a hijacking of the words of Jesus telling His disciples that His being the Messiah is the Rock of Revelation that He will build His Church on.  In the Scripture, Jesus didn’t ask who Peter was. He asked who do you say that I am. The twisting of this verse is the basis of all authority the Catholic church claims for itself.  The Catholic church like so many cults of Christianity misappropriated Scripture for its own purposes.

They have kidnapped these words from Jesus and changed them to say that Peter is the Rock that Jesus will build His church on – and it’s all a Lie.  Every bit of it.  As Peter was one of the Apostles, by perverting the Scripture and substituting Jesus with Peter they claim “apostolic succession” from Peter.  It is a term for an idea they made up. Making disciples is what Jesus commanded, they replaced it with apostolic succession.  Anything that opposes Christ or what he said is antichrist. The word Antichrist also means instead of Christ. If they admitted the error, the Catholic church would collapse.

No such succession exists anywhere in Scripture, not a little, not even a word – it’s all made up.  They practice and preach what they said themselves instead of what Christ said. This succeeding an apostle is one of several titles the pope claims, and it is the main title he proclaims – to be Peter’s successor.  Don’t be fooled by the gold and the glitter and everything shiny; the lovely buildings with stained glass, the marble columns the high altar. Don’t.  It’s all man made, and it’s all going to burn. Don’t be surprised when it does.

Peter was an apostle, but there were 11 others.  Paul was one after the 12. All of the apostles had disciples – just like Jesus did.  We know the names of many of their disciples, they were recorded in early Christian writings.  Some are named in the Bible.  Discipleship was the way ordained by God to expand and birth Ministry – it’s in the Scripture.  There is not some other way. Making disciples is the Great Commission that Jesus commanded. Not all are called to ministry, but everyone has to Grow Up in Christ.  Discipleship makes you grow up and become what you’re supposed to be in Him.  I’m an apostle with 12 disciples, but I’m not The Apostle – Jesus is. There are many others. Many apostles were prophets and teachers before becoming apostles, both in the Bible and today. You cannot Call yourself, the Bible says that very clearly.

If you are Called to ministry or any kind of leadership in the Body of Christ, it’s not for prestige but for service.  Service to the Master yes, but it is still service.  Leadership is not for privilege, it’s for responsibility. How refreshing the Truth sounds. Everything else is a bunch of self promoting, self aggrandizing glory robbing megalomania. In other words, the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher are there as Gifts from God to deal with Believers, or those who become Believers. By training them with the Word of God to do all the services [themselves] that build up the Body of Christ until everybody reaches the same level of Faith and Maturity. Which is a standard set by Christ, not you feeling that you’ve had enough. All of it is in the Bible, go look it up.

You can start by reading Ephesians 4: 11-24, and read it in several good translations, until you get it. I suggest the Amplified, NIV, Complete Jewish, God’s Word, and the Wuest translation, to name a few. If you put it in military terms [as the Bible often does] you have to go to bootcamp to be of any use as a soldier because you have to be trained. And no, going to church is not bootcamp – Discipleship is bootcamp. The church is filled with people who claim to have been in His Army for 20, 30, 40 years – and they don’t even know how to march! They have no weapons, some have only parts of a uniform, most have no uniform at all – and they don’t even know how to fight the Enemy. So most just shoot at or sabotage each other.

Reading the Bible yourself strengthens your Belief and builds up your Hope, but you have to hear the Anointed Preaching or Teaching of the Word to get the Faith you need. Many have thought for years that Faith came from reading the Bible – but the Bible doesn’t say that. If you read Romans 10 where this is talked about it covers Belief, Faith, Preachers and preaching – and what they’re preaching . . . the Word of Christ. And remember Christ isn’t Jesus’ last name, it’s the Greek word for the Hebrew word Messiah [Meshiac]. Both of which mean the Anointed One and/or His Anointing. It’s referring to those who are Authorized by God [not themselves] to preach and teach His Word. Which Authority is proven by the fact that they have the Anointing. Which not only makes you want to listen, it changes you while you do. But it only changes you a little bit at a time because that’s all we can handle. Teaspoon by teaspoon, brick by brick.

When you tie that in with Ephesians 4, you get a clear picture of what the 5 fold ministry is Called [Authorized] to do. But it’s your choice whether you submit to that Authority, or not. God will not make you. He’ll just look at the choice you made when He gets here. Discipleship is a getting up under someone with real Authority [from God], not just someone who says they have it. You can tell if they have real Authority because if they do – they will also have the Anointing. Which is power. Power to change your life, power to change the lives of others. This power comes from God’s Word, the Holy Spirit and the 5 Fold Ministry working together. All of which have been Ordained by Him in His Word. Your job is not to do the changing. Your job is just to stay plugged in, and let the power change you.

If you’ll look at the relationship between Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Paul and Timothy [as well as Titus and Luke], Peter and Mark, John and Polycarp – the Scripture is filled with examples of Discipleship. It is the Biblical model, there is not something else. It’s like a Jedi padawan getting up under a Jedi Master. You don’t want to get up under just anybody, only someone who has the power of God’s Word and His Spirit working in the office of Ministry they stand in. With regular multiple signs miracles and wonders occurring as the Holy Spirit wills. These are called confirming signs in multiple Scriptures. Demonstrating both the Call by God to Ministry and His Approval of what is being ministered. Which is the only acceptable proof as set forth in the Bible, that God is behind you and what you are doing. People don’t like that because it eliminates the validity of most of the institutionalized religious church.

Any church or ministry that does not have the signs miracles and wonders demonstrating the active presence and power of God is pretending. I didn’t say that, the Bible does. If you don’t have the Anointing, get under someone who does so you can get it. Most of the ordained ministers in modern religious christianity only have a piece of paper. Ordination is not on paper, it never has been. Ordination is in power. The power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus did not go to seminary, nor did any of His disciples. In fact, they were completely rejected by the religious establishment of the day and their self appointed authority, who were devoid of any power. Just like today. These self ordained religious priests were the ones who actually killed Jesus. And the Bible says they did it out of Jealousy. They wanted what He had, but they didn’t want to do what He did to get it.

Religion is what man gives instead of coming up into the Relationship that only God has. For all who will let Him be God. In this life that relationship is called Salvation. It is a process not an event. You must decide for yourself if you want the dead dry religion of the world and it’s way of doing things, or true Faith in God. Which is the only way He does everything. Making disciples is the Great Commission. This whole thing is not about what you think you know, it’s about doing what you’re told. Which of course nobody wants to do. We need help.

All of us must learn to do what the Bible says instead of doing what we want. To live for Christ instead of living for Self. It does not sound very attractive to the Selfish nature of our Flesh, which is dying as we speak. Like all biological life, it’s time is very limited. All of the Time being given has been for one purpose: To give you a chance to join the Lord’s side, so that He can give you everything that He has. Here’s some of the best advice I could ever give you – always stay on the Lord’s side. The Bible speaks of a time before Adam and Eve, and there will be a time after this one. But the only ones who will be with Him there, are those that are with Him here. Who are you with . . .
