In 2006 in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, a non Amish man went into a one room Amish school house and after letting go 15 boys, a pregnant woman, and 3 parents with infants – he shot 10 little girls, killing 5 of them. The girls were between 6 and 13 years old, he knew none of them, was not angry at them, and he did it in cold blood. Charles Carl Roberts was a milk-tank truck driver whose father was a retired police officer. He was 32, married, and the father of 3 children (two boys and a girl). Like so many of these cowards who want to have their own way then eliminate any possibility of being held accountable – he shot himself. As the police were breaking into the school house.
Being good Christian folk who live what they believe, the response of the Amish to the family of the murderer within hours was – Forgiveness. Dozens of the Amish neighbors attended his funeral not even a week after he shot their children, several of those attending were the parents. What a difference between the people of the world and the people of God. This was not a “School House Massacre” – that’s modern media terminology. The school house didn’t do anything. If it did it should be brought to trial then on to capital punishment. This “newspeak” as it’s been called distorts and manipulates language in order to sensationalize everything it touches. By intentionally inflating marketable facts it masks the truth of what’s really going on. In doing so it deceives us. All for the purposes of making money from advertising for its media. News organizations aren’t about Truth, they’re about commerce.
Yes ten little girls were shot, five of them murdered – in their own little school house. An unthinkable crime. It’s hard to wrap your mind around it. But it wasn’t the building, or the car that drove him there – it wasn’t even the gun(s). It was a man. A man with children of his own, in this case. The following year it would be a younger Asian man at Virginia Tech. Earlier this year at a movie theater in Colorado it was a doctoral student with his Master’s in Neuroscience. This 20 year old who murdered 20 little children today at another school in Connecticut, used 3 guns that were all legal and belonged to his mother. He killed her too. The mother didn’t do it, her guns didn’t do it – the young man did it. And he had broken multiple laws before firing a single shot. This isn’t a gun problem or a school problem or a theater problem or a Law problem – it’s a people problem.
The problem with people is their internal guidance mechanism. It’s called Morality. It comes to us straight from God, men are entirely unable to explain it apart from Him. Those who even attempt to fail instantly and fail miserably – every time. Their childish arguments expose a rebellious nature and contempt for authority profoundly lacking in historical knowledge of men and the societies and civilizations they build, then destroy. They can’t see the forest for the trees, and seem to know little about the trees.
All of the Law and Morality of western civilization come to us straight from the Bible, and nowhere else. It doesn’t matter what the liberal God hating academia proclaim from the lecterns of 90% of our colleges – they’re the ones who got the Bible and prayer kicked out of school in the ’60’s, and are trying hard to remove it from the rest of society and government. None of what they have to say matters. Only what God says matters. He says you cannot have His Protection if you refuse His Correction, which comes to us through His Word. Which is another name for the Bible.
Part of the protection He has for us is built into our inner man, it’s called our spirit, and it doesn’t live off of bread. It lives off of every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. The Bible is His Book given to us for the express purpose of feeding our spirits. It has been removed from all the places it was once cherished, and eradicated wherever possible – for decades. The harvest of all of that is coming in, and it’s going to be a bumper crop. If you don’t want to be a part of that, then it comes to you as the highest possible . . . suggested reading.
